Hopkins' Overlook

Clarence Hopkins came to Cotter in 1903 to establish the Cotter Lumber Company. One year later he and his new wife Laura began life here where they built the Paradise Theater, and operated a bank, newspaper, insurance agency, and real estate agency. They built Hopkinswoode, their lifetime residence, in 1914 and lived there until their deaths. Members of the family still live there.
