Fordyce, Arkansas

Named for Samuel W. Fordyce, a leader in the building of the first railroad through this area in 1882. Post office established June 25, 1883. Incorporated April 8, plat filed July 5, 1884. Second major railroad reached town in 1905. Became Dallas County seat of government October 6, 1908.
