1 - Daniel Jesse Box, son of Henry Jr. Box and Nancy Dunn, was born on October 20, 1846 in Gadsden,
Etowah County, Alabama, died on August 23, 1927 in North Little Rock, Pulaski
County, Arkansas and was buried on August 24, 1927 in Bethel Cemetery,

Daniel Jessie Box was a drummer. He was discharged from the
10th Alabama Infantry, Company A, with a gunshot wound to the right thigh.
Daniel married Cornelia Little on July 10, 1864
in St. Clair County, Alabama. Cornelia was born in 1843 and died after
1880. She had been married before to a Thompson and a Burgess. It is said
that she was from Ireland, however, census records do not indicate that she nor
her parents came from Ireland. Please note: Cornelia had two children from a previous marriage, John and Tom, who were not Box's
even though they were listed as Box on some census records. Daniel and Cornelia had six children: Henry W., Jonas Allen, William Clements,
Nelson P., Benjamin Franklin, and Jessie Florence.
Noted events in their marriage were:
1. Marriage License: July 7, 1864, St. Clair
County, Alabama.

seven named children: John Shelby Jr., Canzadia Mae, Leroy, Thurman, Lonnie,
Quimby, and Belle. In a interview with Madge (Coulter) Crain, Aunt Madge
stated her mother always said a total of 24 children were born to Daniel and
Lucinda. Most died as soon as they were born, and buried without name,
either at Bethel or at Harmony Cemetery.

in Pulaski County, Arkansas, died on January 1, 1909 and was buried in Bethel

Things I would like further information on:
- Civil war cards at the Alabama Department of History
and Archives indicate that Daniel was married upon his enlistment in the
Civil War, which would pre-date his marriage to Cornelia Little? Was
there another marriage? Also, these cards indicate he enlisted in
Orange, Virginia, why was he there?
- Where is Cornelia Little buried?
- What happened to Henry W. Box? Nelson P. Box?
- Where are William and Ben Box buried at in Oklahoma? Answer: Greenleaf Cemetery, Cherokee County, Oklahoma
- How many times was Ben Box married and to who?
- Where are Thurman, Lonnie, Quimby, and Belle buried?
Notes: There is information being passed around that Daniel Jessie Box deserted during the civil war
because he was chasing women. If proper research is done, it would be found that that he was shot in the hip and laid up during the
time he "deserted." Also, noting the fact that he lost all of his brothers and most of brother-in-laws in the civil war by the time he
"deserted", I highly doubt that chasing or looking for women was a major priority of life at that time. If anyone should have
information to back up this claim, please drop me a line. Pris at ArkansasTies@ArkansasTies.com.
