John C. Davenport

John C. Davenport , son of John Davenport and Jane, was born on 11 Sep 1828 in Georgia , died on 17 May 1905 in Olmstead, Pulaski County, Arkansas and was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas .

Listed as the head of household, 71 years old, and widowed. Has a servant name Susie Standfield, widowed, and her son Clyde living with him. Shows him to be from Georgia and his parents to be from South Carolina.

John married Lucinda Francis Box, daughter of Allen Box and Mary Box, on 3 Jul 1853 in St. Clair County, Alabama. They had nine children: Joseph Capers, Savanah Francis, John B., Mary Jane, James Allen, Catherine Elizabeth, Lucinda Adonah, Samuel Shelton, and Elijah Malcolm.

Joseph Capers Davenport  was born on 5 Jun 1854 , died on 4 Sep 1863 and was buried at Bethel Cemetery  in Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas .

General Notes: Joseph Caper Davenport's tombstone is the earliest tombstone found from this Davenport family in Pulaski County, Arkansas. 

Savanah Francis Davenport  was born on 2 Jun 1856 , died on 5 Jan 1865  and was buried at Bethel Cemetery in Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas .

John B. Davenport was born on 13 Mar 1858 in St. Clair County, Alabama , died on 29 May 1876  and was buried at Bethel Cemetery in Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas .

Mary Jane Davenport  was born on 9 Jan 1860  and died on 9 Mar 1933 in Kansas City, Wyandotte, Kansas.

James Allen Davenport  was born on 8 Apr 1862 in Arkansas  and died on 16 Nov 1932.  Buried at Bethel Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas.  Another name for James was Jim.

Catherine Elizabeth Davenport  was born on 24 Oct 1864  and died on 4 Apr 1952 .Buried at Bayou Meto Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas.

Lucinda Adonah Davenport  was born on 24 Feb 1867 in Olmstead, Pulaski County, Arkansas , died on 19 Jan 1933 in Conway Pike, North Little Rock, Arkansas  and was buried on 20 Jan 1933 in Bethel Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Another name for Lucinda was Adona, Louisa, Lucinda, Dona, And Mrs. L.A.Box.

Samuel Shelton Davenport  was born on 20 Jun 1869 in Olmstead, Pulaski County, Arkansas, died on 17 Apr 1918  and according to his death certificate, was buried on 19 Apr 1918 in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cabot, Lonoke County, Arkansas .

Elijah Malcolm Davenport was born on 1 Mar 1872 , died on 14 Aug 1945  and was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas.

Items I would like more information on:

  • Samuel Shelton Davenport's death certificate shows he is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery.  We have assumed this is Mt. Carmel in Cabot however, cemetery records do not show any information on him, is there another Mt Carmel?
  • Exactly where is Mary Jane Davenport buried at in Kansas?
