Winds From
the South

This sculpture is located in the Art
Garden at the old Train Depot in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The
Blue Moon Art Gallery had the following on Mr. Summerhill:
Wayne Summerhill moved to Hot Springs in
2005 to live and work as a sculptor . He had visited often
and wanted to establish a studio and living space under one
roof. Summerhill has been creating metal art for over thirty
years. A native of Memphis, the relocation to Hot Springs
has allowed him time and space for more artwork to be
produced.
Wayne’s steel sculpture is often functional - tables, chairs
and stools, but his real pleasure comes from creating his
unique “people” and from his larger works that are inspired
by music. He has included guitars that he fashions of steel
and are reproductions of those used by many famous musicians
– Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison – to
name a few. He has also created a steel piano in one of the
large works titled “50 Years of Rock N’Roll” that is
currently on display at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
The Hard Rock Corporation commissioned three of the music
inspired sculptures last year that are displayed in their
Miami location.
