Mountain Valley Spring Water

Bottled Water Company located in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas

This building was constructed in 1910 as the home of the DeSoto Spring Company. The first floor was used as a drinking pavilion for people to enjoy a taste of fresh spring water. There was not a mezzanine or third level at this time.

Thousands of people and businesses throughout the United States have Arkansas ties to the longest continually operated bottled water company in the United States, Mountain Valley Spring Water.

The earliest records date back to the territorial days of Arkansas when it was known locally as Lockett's Spring and owned by Ben Lockett and his son, Enoch.

Since 1871, this Arkansas company has bottled spring water from a single natural spring source that is naturally high in pH and natural minerals.  It is a cold water spring, unlike many of the other springs in Hot Springs.

I was told that this is the actual location of the spring.  These two photographs look very similar but the current spring cover is in a room 8 x 10 feet or so, whereas the top photograph is in a much larger room.  Possibly there were two or the top one was for decoration.
