07/29/1820 Notice

In answer to a handbill I have this moment received.

A handbill is now before the public, setting up the claim of Lewis
Brangier to the pre-emption right, to Chrystal Hill, which I rightfully
own. It appears that this handbill is calculated to bias the mind of
those who might wish to become interested in Chrystal Hill. Therefore,
to satisfy the public, I hereby give notice to the community, and to
Lewis Brangier, his agents, or pretended agents, or any other person,
that I have purchased the following pre-emption rights, viz: the
pre-emption right of Jonathan Pharr, the pre-emption right of William
F. Lockwood, and others, on the Arkansas river, at and near Chrystal Hill,
and am the only rightful owner of the above pre-emptions, and hold them
as my bonafied property. I ask no favors from Mr. Brangier, his agents,
or his pretended agents but to do away any prejudice that may exist in
the public mind towards my rightful claim, I hereby give notice to said
Brangier, or his agents to come forward with their claim, and I am ready
to satisfy them and the public that my claim is indisputable.

The subscriber will sell any part or portion of the aforesaid lands, and
warrant the title which he will give, against all other titles or claims,
except the United States.
