Jackson, Mo. August 19
Horrid Murder. --- It is our painful duty to state that Mrs. Jane Burns,
wife of Mr. Andrew Burns, was murdered on Wednesday evening last,
at his residence about one and a half miles from this place, by a
Shawnee
Indian called Little George. Pursuit has been made after the murderer,
but he is not yet taken.

Died --- In Farthingay (Va.) on the 27th day of June last, after a
lingering illness, Mrs. Julia Clark, wife of Governor William Clark of
Missouri.

Trespass Case, Attachment
Debt, $1439.80 --- Damage, $2000.
This day came the Plaintiff, by his Attorney, and the Defendant being
called, and not yet appearing, it is ordered by the Court that the said
Defendant, Louis Brangier, have a notice that an Attachment has been
issued against his estate by Samuel McHenry, who claims of said Louis
Brangier, aforesaid, the sum of one thousand four hundred and thirty
nine dollars and eighty cents, for the work and labor, care and
diligence of said plaintiff, and for goods, wares, and merchandise sold
and delivered to the said defendant and for money paid and advanced to
the said defendant do appear at the next Term of this Court, by himself
or attorney, and ? special bail to the aforesaid action, on or before,
the third day of the next Term of this Court, a judgment will be
rendered against him the said defendant and his estate sold to satisfy
the same, by order of the Court. And it is further ordered by the Court,
that a copy of this order be inserted in the Arkansas Gazette for four
weeks successively and this cause is continued until next term.

Taken up by Col. James Scull Living near the Post of Arkansas, in the
county of Arkansas, one gray horse, 8 or 9 years old, branded on the
left shoulder with the letter [R] and appraised to 65 dollars. Also one
roan Mare, 3 years old, branded with [d3] on the left side of her neck,
and the same brands on the right buttock and shoulder and appraised to
35 dollars, before me this 31st day of September 1820.

Sir - You are hereby notified that an attachment has been issued against
your estate, in favor of William Robinson, for the sum of nine hundred
dollars, on receipt for forty-two barrels of flour, to be delivered by
you at Long Prairie, Delaware Village, and Mount Prairie, and unless you
shall appear, by yourself or attorney, and file special bail to the
aforesaid action, on or before the third day of the next succeeding term
of this Court, a judgment will be entered against you, and your said
estate sold to satisfy the same. And it is ordered by the Court that
this notice be published for four weeks successively in the Arkansas
Gazette.

Notice
All persons indebted to the estate of Thomas R. Smith, late of Pulaski
County, Deceased, are hereby notified to call on the subscribers, living
near the Maumelle, on the Arkansas River, in said County, and settle
their accounts, or they will be put into the hands of an officer for
collection; and all those who have claims against said estate are
requested to present their accounts properly authenticated according to
law for settlement.

All persons interested, are hereby notified, that on the first day of
the Circuit Court, to be held for the county of Arkansas at the Post of
Arkansas, and in the Territory of Arkansas, on the first Monday of
November next, we shall petition said Court to order eighty thousand
arpens of a tract of land granted to Elisha Winter, by the Spanish
government and lying in said county and said Territory, to be laid off
and divided unto us, so that we may enjoy, hold, and possess the same
separate and apart from other claimants.

Notice is Hereby Given
To all to whom it may concern, that the undersigned, agent for Jeremiah
Hunt and others, will petition the next Circuit Court for the county of
Arkansas in the Territory of Arkansas, to be held at the Post of
Arkansas, in said county, on the first Monday of November next to divide
and set apart for the said Jeremiah Hunt and others, seventy-five
thousand arpens of land, being a part of the tract granted by the
Spanish government to Elisha Winter, lying in the county and Territory
aforesaid.
