03/12/1822 We learn from a private source, that Maj. Gen. Izard, late of the U.S. Army, has been appointed Governor of Florida.
03/12/1822 Died - At Davidsonville, on the 3d inst. after a short illness, Col. Stuart, a worthy and respectable citizen of Lawrence County.

03/12/1822 NOTICE

To the holder of a note for about sixty dollars, given by James M.J. Scantland, to a Mr. Bunderon, and to which note I am told that my name is signed as security, of which I have no recollection. The holder of this note will do well to prosecute his legal remedy for the collection of said note, as I am determined to be released from being security for the same.

That I shall apply to the Circuit Court of the County of Arkansas,
at the next June term of said Court, to settle the estate of Joseph
Cook, deceased. Persons having claims against the estate, will
produce them duly authenticated, that the assets of said estate
may be apportioned amongst the creditors, the estate being insolvent.

In the Circuit Court - Arkansas County, February Term 1822
James Miller, Adm'r of Jacob Miller, Deceased vs. Rufus P. Spalding
Attachment - Debt $250 Damages $400

On motion of plaintiff's attorney, the defendant being called, answered not ---- And it is ordered by the Court that a notice be given by advertisement for four weeks successively, in any newspaper published in this Territory, notifying the defendant that an attachment has been issued against his estate in favor of Jacob Miller, deceased , for the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars, and unless he shall appear by himself or attorney, and file special bail to the above action, on or before the fourth day of our next June term, judgment will be taken against him by default, and his estate sold to satisfy the same.

03/19/1822 February 7 --- A report has gone the rounds of the newspapers, that General Izard has been nominated by the President to the Senate, for the office of Governor of Florida. This is not only not true, but General Izard has not, in any quarter, been spoken of as a candidate for the office.

The Steam-Boat Eagle,

Capt. G. Morris, will return from New Orleans to Dardenelle, in about four weeks, with freight for the Indian Agency in the Cherokee Nation; and will hereafter ascend the Arkansas as often as sufficent employment offers. Her charges for freight, will be the same as heretofore made by keel-boats.

For freight or passage, apply to Mr. George W. Brand at Little Rock or to the Captain, on board.
