04/03/1827 Administrator's Notice

The undersigned having obtained from the Clerk of the Circuit Court in and for the county of Clark, in the Territory of Arkansas, Letters of Administration on the estate of Jacob Wood, late of said county, deceased, hereby gives notice to all persons having just demands against said estate to exhibit them to him properly authenticated within one year from the date of his letters of administration, or they may be precluded from deriving any benefit from said estate, and if said claims be not exhibited as aforesaid within five years they will be for ever barred.

THAT in the month of May 1826, the undersigned executed to Alexander S. Walker, a note of hand due in the month of May 1827, for $50. This is to notify all persons from trading for, or taking an assignment of said note, as the said Walker has not performed the consideration for which said note was given, and I am determined not to pay said note unless compelled by law.

IN CHANCERY

NOW at this day came the complainant, by his attorney, and the defendant being solemnly called by the Sheriff, came not, but made default, and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that the said defendant, Hannah Bailey, alias, Hannah Casey, is a non-resident, and that the process of this Court, cannot be served on her, that publication be made in the Arkansas Gazette for six weeks successively, that if the said defendant be not, and appear at the next term of this Court, and file an answer to the complainant's petition, the bill will be taken pro-confesso.

04/17/1827 CENSUS OF CHICOT COUNTY, 1827. - It appears by the Census recently taken by the Sheriff, that the population of the county of Chicot amounts to 480 souls.

ALL persons are hereby notified, not to take an assignment on a note executed by us, in the month of January or February last, for the sum of two hundred dollars, and payable, 12 months after date, to Alexander S. Walker. We are determined not to pay said note, unless compelled by law.

THAT the undersigned administrator, &c. of Thomas Curran, deceased, will apply to the Circuit Court of County at Independence, at a Court to be holden at the town of Batesville, in and for said county, on the second Monday of July next, for the sale of the lands and tenements belonging to said Thomas Curran, deceased, said estate being insolvent, and there not being sufficient personal property to pay the debts thereof.

Randal, late of said county, deceased, hereby gives notice to all persons having just demands against said estate, to exhibit them to him, properly authenticated, within one year from the date of said Letters of Administration, or they may be precluded from deriving any benefit from said estate; and if said claims be not exhibited as aforesaid, within five years, or they will be forever barred.
