Robbery - A most daring robbery was committed, a short time
since, by three individuals, well armed with rifles, who arrived in
a skiff, at the plantation of Mr. Everette, just above Randolph, in
Mississippi county, in this state. The villains burst open and
rifled the trunk of the overseer, containing about $200 in money;
appropriated to themselves an elegant pair of pistols belonging to
Mr. Everett, and a vest, in one pocket of which was about 445 in
bank bills. They next fell upon Mr. E.'s trunk, and were in the act
of bearing it away, when becoming alarmed at the approach of the
overseer, they ran to their skiff, pushed out into the river, and
made off with their booty. Though instantly pursued, these reckless
and impudent scoundrels have not as yet been taken. It is but proper
to remark, that these fellows are not citizens of Arkansas, but were
from above. |
