Run away from the subscriber, living in Miller county, some time since, a negro boy named Henry, about 21 or 22 years of age, a little inclined to be yellow, five feet six or eight inches high, has a scar on his breast, caused by a blister, speaks quick, and can read and write.

I will give the above reward for information so that I can get him again, or for his delivery in some safe jail.

THE undersigned having obtained from the clerk of the county court of Independence county, the State of Arkansas, in vacation, Letters of Administration on the estate of Webb B. Hayden, late of said county, deceased, bearing date, 13th May 1837, hereby gives notice to all persons having claims against said estate, to exhibit them, properly authenticated, within one year from the date of said letters, or they may not derive any benefit from said estate; and if they do not present them as aforesaid within five years, they will be for ever barred. 07/11/1837 FORT SMITH RACES
AT a meeting held by the "Fort Smith Jockey Club," according to previous notice, the following resolutions were adopted.

That the eighteenth day of October be the day of the commencement of the Fall Races, on the Fort Smith track.

The first day, Jockey Club purse, one hundred and twenty-five dollars, besides the entrance money, one mile and repeat.

Second day's purse, one hundred and seventy-five dollars, besides the entrance money - two miles and repeat.

Third day, two hundred dollars, beside the entrance - three miles and repeat.

The purses of each day will be hung on the starting post, in cash.

Was committed to my custody, on Tuesday, the 4th day of July, by J.S. Dorris, an acting Justice of the Peace in and for the county of St. Francis, a mulatto boy, who calls himself SILAS, and says he is the property of Benjamin Hutson, of Franklin county, Alabama. Silas is a likely mulatto boy, about five feet six inches high, of a very pleasant countenance, appears tolerable intelligent, and is about 22 years old. The owner of said negro is requested to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him away, or he will be dealt with as the law directs.

WALTON, WALKER, & CO., Nos. 17 and 18 New Levee, New Orleans, take this method of informing their friends and customers in Arkansas, that they will receive, in payment of notes and accounts due them, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee paper at ten per cent discount, and all New Orleans paper at pay. For specie, they will allow twenty per cent, premium, and on treasury warrants ten per cent, premium.

He hopes his friends and former customers will continue to patronize his house, as he intends to furnish his table with the best the country can afford; and the choicest liquors will always be found at the bar, where no pains in his line of business will be spared to render his friends happy.

State of Arkansas,

This day we have viewed a stray horse, shown to us by James Lawrence, and find the same to be a sorrel color, about 14 hands high, about six years old, trots, has some saddle marks, a mark of a wound on the off ham, near the stifle join, two white feet, the near hind foot half white, the off hind leg white half way to the knee, a blaze in the forehead down to the mouth; we believe the said stray worth forty dollars.

Will ply as a regular trader on the Arkansas, at all times when the stage of the water will admit. Her accomodations for passengers are superior. From her construction, she is peculiarly adapted for the Arkansas river, drawing but little water, and being of considerable tonnage. She is perfectly staunch, having recently been thoroughly overhauled and repaired. For freight or passage, apply on board.

07/18/1837 Died, At Fort Gibson, on the 12th instant, Col. Alexander S. Walker, of this vicinity, aged between 55 and 60 years. Col. W. recently received the appointment of Sub-Agent to the Seneca Indians, and was on his way to enter on the discharge of the duties of that office, when he was arrested by the hand of death. He was a native of the State of Virginia, but has been a citizen of Arkansas for more than twenty years, and has left an amiable family and numerous friends, to lament his death.

WILL be paid for a certain negro, by the name of Bill or Will, who was taken off in April 1834, by one of Murel's men. Said negro is very black; about 21 years old; 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high; smiling and plausible; good teeth and hair, round face; good address, speaks slow, but uses good language; is very fond of music and perhaps plays on the violin a little; dresses well; no doubt but he will have free papers; he formerly resided for a time at Col. Montgomery's, mouth of White river; was formerly the property of Dr. Dickson, late Governor of Mississippi, who sold him at this landing, where he was a waiter at the Hotel of Mrs. Ellen Woodton, for a considerable time. He was formerly Steward on a boat that traveled to Little Rock. In addition to the above reward, I will pay all reasonable charges, if he is brought here or put in any jail in the South.

07/25/1837 Died, at his residence in Crawford county, after a short illness, on the 12th inst., James Barker. He was a man universally respected, he has left a wife with four small children, and numerous connections to mourn his sudden departure.
07/25/1837 Died, at the residence of Col. James Danley, in this township, on Thursday last, Mr. Andrew J. Gilbraith, aged 25 years. He was a native of Rockbridge county, Virginia, where he has respectable parents and connections. In his death, society has been stripped of an ornament, his parents have lost a dutiful son, and every honest man a friend. - Com.

The Richmond Enquirer, and other papers in Virginia, are requestedto publish the above.

THE subscribers will offer a number of LOTS for sale at Public Auction, on the first and second days of the next September term of the circuit court in Scott county, to be holden at this place, on the first Monday in September next. A liberal credit will be given to purchasers.
