First Methodist Episcopal Church in Southwest, Ark.
Organized 1817 at Mound Prairie by William Stephenson of the Missouri Conference.

Henry's Chapel

Moved nearer, rebuilt, & called Henrys Chapel in honor of Rev. John Henry, one of founders. Rev. B.E. Mullins- Pastor Washington Circuit 1917.

Rev. A.D. Jenkins, grandson of James & Hannah Alexander, charter members.

First House of Worship built in 1818 about 3 miles south of Ozan and called Mount Moriah.

Henry's Chapel

This directional marker, to find Henry's Chapel, was originally placed on the site of the Ozan Methodist Episcopal Church South in 1917, by the Little Rock Annual Conference, and was moved to this location in 1990 when that property was sold.

The original site of Henry's Chapel is approximately 3 miles northwest of this marker (in the southwest corner of section 12, township 11 south, range 25).
