Pioneer Cemetery
Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas
About the year 1826, John Miller, Robert Crittenden, Charles Kelley, and
Richard Searcy verbally gave and dedicated this plot of ground to the
town of Batesville to be used as a burial place. On April 5, 1856, the
cemetery property, then called the Cedar Grove, was deeded to the town
by Miller, John Ringgold, Jesse Searcy, William B. Searcy, Richard
Searcy, Franklin W. & Elizabeth J. Desha, and Edwin R. McGuire.
