Arkansas Light & Power Co.
Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas
Arkansas Gazette 1919

Above map shows the location of
its high voltage lines serving light and power to Arkansas' most
progressive towns in the richest sections of the State.
A few years ago the development effected by the Arkansas Light & Power
Company was stored away in the minds of a few visionary business men who
were farsighted enough to see the great future possibilities of the
central power station operation, capable of furnishing power for the
operation of factories, irrigation wells, cotton seed oil mills, gins,
coal mines, industrial plants for the manufacture of the vast raw
material of the State, supplying current to cities, towns, and villages
for light and power purposes.
The realization of this vision is now being successfully worked out. The
Arkansas Light & Power Company is today an important factor in the
industrial and agricultural development of the State. Radiating from
Pine Bluff, its high tension transmission lines run through the famous
cotton belt of Jefferson County, extending into the rich, rice-growing
districts of Lonoke and Arkansas Counties and furnishes power to the
large flouring mills of Clark County and for the operation of the coal
mines in the anthracite coal belt of Johnson, Pope, and Yell Counties
and the fertile agricultural valley of Conway County.
The high voltaged transmission line solves the problem of power for
irrigation of the rice farms, furnishing power for the operation of oil
mills, gins, milling, and manufacturing plants, supplying electric
current for light and power through its distribution system in the
progressive, up-to-date towns of Arkansas.
It is only necessary to observe the location of these towns on the
accompanying map of Arkansas to be convinced that they are backed up by
a surrounding country rich in natural resources and being served by the
Arkansas Light & Power Company, supplemented by the influence and
support of its hundreds of stockholders, guarantees a continued and
permanent growth and prosperity for years to come.
