First Baptist Church of Star City Bell

Star City, Lincoln County, Arkansas

History of Bell

This bell originally was installed about 1880 in the steeple of the first building of First Baptist Church of Star City on the square at the southeast corner of Bradley and Drew streets. It is not known whether it was new when purchased by the church. In 1926 the bell was moved to the bell tower of a new church building at the corner of Jefferson and Wiley streets. In 1976 it was installed in the steeple of another new building at the corner of Jefferson and Wiley streets but later was moved and placed on the church grounds. The bell is the oldest item of First Baptist Church and only item from the 1880 church building. First Baptist Church was organized in 1873.

Plaque in memory of Betty Rogers Moss.
