Foreman
is situated on the highest point midway between Red and Little
Rivers, twelve miles from each, on the Frisco Railroad and the Fort
Smith & Texarkana Highway, forty miles west of Texarkana, and six
miles from the Oklahoma state line. A public school building was
recently erected at Foreman which is worth $80,000, and is attended
by 400 pupils. Among the Foreman churches is one recently completed
worth $20,000. Two banks, the Bank of Foreman and the Citizens'
Bank, have combiner capital, surplus, and undivided profits of
$100,000 and total deposits of $800,000.
The main crops about Foreman are cotton and corn but peanuts are
increased every season. Sweet and Irish potatoes, strawberries,
peaches, wheat, oats, alfalfa are valuable crops.
