Natasja van Dijk and Bas Reede, adopters of the grave of
Pfc. Johnnie M. Skinner |
| |
Dear Sir, Madame,
On your site I saw the name of Johnnie M. Skinner on the monument World
War II Honor roll. I was very surprised.
For some time I am searching for this soldier.
Let me tell you why...
In March 2007 I adopted a grave at the Margraten Cemetery.
The only information I received was that he was a Private First Class.
People around here still consider it to be an honour to take care of the
graves of the fallen U.S. Soldiers, buried at the Margraten Cemetery.
For me it is the least I can do to show my gratitude and respect for
what so many young men from far over the ocean did for us more than 60
years ago.
The adoption of a grave means: Visiting the grave on a frequent basis,
placing flowers on special days or occasions (like e.g. Memorial Day or
Christmas) and when relatives wish to do so, corresponding with the
homeland.
Hereby I give you some more information I found about a Johnnie.
