Carlisle is located thirty-two
miles east of Little Rock, on the Rock Island R.R., and is at the
north end of what is called Grand Prairie. It is also located on the
Bankhead Highway, running from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles, Cal.
The town has approximately 1,500 people, brick high school building,

Dairy
The dairy industry is the first venture to be attempted at Carlisle.
In the year 1889, the first creamery was erected and ever since that

dairies consist mostly of Holstein, Guernsey, Jersey, and Red Polls.
Carlisle is one of the best points in the state for dairying, being
located only thirty-two miles east of Little Rock and ninety miles
from Hot Springs, the two places taking all of the product. The
prices average among the best in the United States.
Operated on the co-operative plan.
Has seventy-three patrons.
Has produced in the last seven months 1,778,408 pounds of milk,
which sold at an average price of $3.50 per hundred for 4% butter
fat, or a total net to the farmers of $59,964.38.
Owns a feed house and all patrons are furnished feed and flour at
wholesale prices.
