Freeman L. Gardner Jr.

Army Sgt. Freeman L. Gardner, Jr.
26, of Little Rock, Ark.; assigned to the 18th Engineer Company, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died March 22, 2007 in Baghdad of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit while on combat patrol.

Landon S. Giles

Army Pvt. Landon S. Giles

19, of Arkadelphia, Ar.; assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed Feb. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was on patrol in Abertha, Iraq. Also killed was Army Pfc. Min S. Choi.

James M. Goins

Army 2nd Lt. James Michael Goins

23, of Bonner Springs, Kan.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; killed Aug. 15 by hostile fire in Najaf, Iraq.  Grew up in Oak Grove, Arkansas.

Michael P. Hall

Army Sgt. Michael P. Hall
30, of Little Rock, Arkansas. Hall deployed four times in support of Operations Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt. Hall was among four troops who died when their helicopter crashed in Georgia on June 1, 2006. The crash happened during a training flight at the Hunter Army Airfield near Savannah when the copter clipped a television station tower wire.

Richard J. Henkes II

Army Sgt. 1st Class Richard J. Henkes II

32, of Portland, Ore.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died Sept. 3 of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations in Yusifiyah, Iraq. Parents from Ashdown, Arkansas.

Brian Chase Hopper

Marine Lance Cpl. Brian C. Hopper
21, of Wynne, Ark.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Jan. 26 when the CH-53E helicopter in which he was riding crashed near Rutbah, Iraq. Twenty-nine Marines and one sailor also were killed.

Kenneth Jenkins

Army Staff Sgt. Kenneth A. Jenkins
25, of Fouke, Ark.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died Aug. 12 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained when he came in contact with enemy forces using small-arms fire during combat operations in Baghdad.

Kevin P. Jessen

Army Staff Sgt. Kevin P. Jessen
28, of Paragould, Ark.; assigned to the 22nd Chemical Battalion (Technical Escort), Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.; killed March 5 when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations in Rawah, Iraq.

Michael Vann Johnson Jr.

Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Michael Vann Johnson Jr.
25, of Little Rock, Ark.; assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego, 3rd Marine Division Detachment, Fleet Marine Force, San Diego; killed March 25 while tending to wounded colleagues in Iraq.
