Erected in memory of Officers and Men who lost their
lives in the destruction of the U.S.S. Maine at Havanna, Cuba on
February 15, 1898.
Also buried "temporarily" as the plaque reads in the
U.S.S. Maine Memorial is Ignace Jan Paderewski.

of American war Veterans.
Who, from his death until the rebirth of freedom in his homeland, here
rested in honor and in dignity.
Now many his soul be eternally at peace and his memory entombed in the
