Capt. Charles S. Rice
The 1st section under Lieut. George A. Ege, served two 10-pounder
Parrott Rifles in this position from about June 7 to the end of the
siege, July 4, 1863. From May 19 to about June 7 the section served its
Parrott Rifles on the first ridge in rear of this position.

The 2nd section, under Lieut. William Hunt, served two 10-pounder
Parrott Rifles in this position from about May 25 to about June 15,
1863. When the section was ordered to an advanced Battery from the
morning of May 21 to May 25, the section served its Parrott Rifles close
to the Baldwin's Ferry Road and immediately east of the "Burnt
Chimney's."
