Niagara Falls

New York & Canada

Niagara Falls One | Two | Three

Looking down on the tourist ramps that go right up to the American Falls.  Everyone had on light yellow water covers so they looked like Oompa Loompas (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).  You can walk up to the bottom of the American Falls but to get up close to the Horseshoe Falls you have to take a tour on the "Maid of the Mist" boats.

Headed with the other Oompa Loompas to the American Falls.

Even though they give you a cover up... you still get wet.  I had prepared for this so Mark and I wore light swimwear.  They also make you wear their sandals, which you can donate or keep after the tour.

The American Falls and Bridal Falls.

If you look closely, you can see a "Maid of the Mist" boat going up to the falls.

Maid of the Mist Boat - looking down from the tower.

Out on the "Maid of the Mist".  Hold on!  This storm came up when we got on the boat and the wind was so bad all you could do was hold on.  We later found out someone died in the storm, but we sure had fun. It made the ride that much more exciting.

The weather started clearing up as we got to the Horseshoe Fall.  This picture was taken as we approached the Horseshoe Fall and as you can see, Mark is totally drenched.  It was a good thing we brought waterproof cameras.

Headed back to port and passing another group.

The building built into the side here houses the generators for the falls.

Tourist center on the American side.  Pigeons are everywhere.
