Night time on the Canadian-side of the Falls.

At night they turn the lights on the falls.  The lights are not actually under the falls but are beamed down with rotating colors.

That is a giant Ferris wheel in the background and the whole place is very much like a fair, especially at night.  These are the projectors that beam light onto the falls.  It changes color about every 3 minutes.

It is not physically possible to see the falls from any of the hotels on the American side, so if you go, make plans to stay on the Canadian side.  Most of the hotels are design so that you can see all of the falls from your hotel room.
