Hickory Plain
Male and Female Institute
The Trustees of the above School have the pleasure of announcing
that they have engaged W.A. Garner and lady to take charge of the
Institute, and will open the first session on the first Monday in
September next.
The Principal and his lady, both being natives of South Carolina,
and having been educated for teachers, and with an experience of
several years in their business, we would say that no school in the
State offers better inducements to educate children than ours.
As for the situation of our school we would say, we are 14 miles
from Des Arc and 36 from Little Rock, immediately on the stage road;
and we would further say, there is no place in the State which is
more proverbial for health, morals and good society, than this.
