According to Ms. Bussa, who has lived
near the cemetery for almost 70 years and had family buried there, the property
Lewis Cemetery was on was sold during the 30's or 40's to a family who did not want
a cemetery on their property. Lewis Cemetery was a family cemetery and all
of the graves had to be moved at the families expense. She stated that
most of the graves were moved to Martin or to Roselawn. Her
particular line was the McGouirk family and they were moved to Roselawn.
So there you have it....I have looked
high and low for this one, so now I am glad to put some "closure" to it..
