Babcock House

This house was built by William and Julia
Burnelle "Bernie" Babcock. After Mr. Babcock died of a sudden
illness, and "Bernie" having 5 children to feed, Bernie started writing
for a living. She authored more than 40 works of which the best
known was "The Soul of Ann Rutledge." Bernie also founded the
Arkansas Museum of Science and Antiquities, known as the Museum of
Discovery today and she was the first woman from Arkansas in the Who's
Who in America. |
