This house was built by Harry Foster and
his wife lived in the house until 1929. She sold the house to U.S.
Senator Joe T. Robinson. The Robinson's hosted a dinner party for
President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and the President gave a speech
from the front porch. President Trumann also visited with Mrs.
Robinson after the death of her husband. In 1984, the house was
converted to Hope Lodge, a "home away from home" for adult cancer
patients being treated in the city.
