The Belvedere Located on the Riverfront, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas An Arkansas Sesquicentennial Project Dedicated October 1986   The commemorative Belvedere is a City of Little Rock project celebrating the state sesquicentennial.  A Belvedere is a Pavilion with a beautiful view.  The commemorative Belvedere overlooks the natural beauty of the Arkansas River upon whose heritage our city is built.   The Belvedere commemorates the tradition of service created by many businesses, schools, churches, and civic organizations.  Together, these "Pillars" of the community have collectively built our city, our economy, and our pride.  Plaques on each pillar honor organizations of 50, 75, and 100 years of continuous operation as of August 31, 1985.   The same spirit that built Little Rock built the Belvedere: ingenuity, hard work, community pride, generosity, and vision.  The goal was worthy of the effort.  The Belvedere symbolizes and cherishes the contributions made over the years by organizations dedicated to excellence in themselves and in their city.   A city is known by its aspirations.  In 1986 the City of Little Rock aspired to honor its past.  By celebrating our past, we hope the Belvedere inspires a tradition committed to community excellence.
