Hernando Springs Water Company
aka Nash Property & Garrett Bottling Company
Nash Lane, Mabelvale, Arkansas
For several years now, I have driven down Nash Lane in Mabelvale, Arkansas
and
saw this house, seemingly abandoned, off out in the woods. It is about
1500 feet off
out in the woods and from a distance looked somewhat like a log
house. Recently,
I had the opportunity to do business with the owner of
the property, Perry James, and
asked him about the "house." Well, it
seems the house is not a house in the traditional
sense for people...... it is a
"spring house." It was built around the early 1900's by
Carl Nash to
house and protect his watering facility and the spring it is built on.
Best way to describe it is to just show you.

This is the inside around the 1930's.
I am told there was an article in the
Arkansas Gazette about the delivery of the
tank to the right. Seems the roof had
to be taken off
and a crane used to lower the tank into the building.

This is where the water came in.

This "light house" fountain operated
on the water from the spring.
It not only produced water but light in top
of the house.

This was a "gold fish pond" that was
behind the spring house.
