Hanger - Ratcliffe Gin

Harper & Gates Road

Pulaski County, Arkansas

Circa 1876 steam-powered cotton gin
Listed in National Register of Historic Places on October 8, 1976.

Notes from Kay Tatum: The Gin was built by Peter Hanger, then willed, as I understand from the estate of Mrs. Peter Hanger (Matilda Cunningham Hanger), to his daughter Margaret (Hanger) Ratcliffe and her Husband, W. C. Ratcliffe, who was a Judge. Their residence was next door to Frederick Hanger's House at 1004 Scott Street. Then it passed to their son, William Adam, then William Adam Jr. (Miss Mary's Husband) and then to their son William Adam (goes by Adam) Ratcliffe. So, it's been in the family for 5 generations.
