Turner - Karcher House

503 East Seventh Street

Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas

C. 1881

Info from Kay Tatum & the Quapaw Tour Guide:

An Italianate built in 1879 by Judge Blakely Turner for $4,000.  Turner was the recorder

for the Arkansas Supreme Court.  Mr. and Mrs. Turner along with three grown children lived

in this house until Mr. Turner died in 1887.  After it changed owners twice, Andrew & Minnie

Karcher purchased the home in 1912.  Karcher was President of the Karcher Candy

Company and the home was a place for social gatherings.  It remained in the family

until Mrs. Karcher died in 1943.  In 1974 due to fire and vandalism, the home was on

the verge of demolition when it was rehabilitated as apartments.  Note: Kay Tatum has a

build date of 1879 and the guide is 1881.
