Veterans Monument Symbolism
Key hole shape of the pathway of honor: The men and women honored here,
and the millions of veterans they represent, have been the "Key" and
essential elements in the enabling and protecting of our Nation's
Freedom and Liberty, and the American Way of Life. At this monument,
their names surround and continue to protect the Flag of the United
States of America and the country that Flag represents. To symbolize the
loyalty of our country's military veterans, all of the commemorative
brick pavers honoring the service of participating veterans are laid
with the lettering facing the Flag.
The five columns and spanners: these features represent the five wartime
military branches aligned from left to right by officially established
seniority: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. These five
columns also support the inscribed historical values of the United
States Armed Forces: Duty, Honor, Country, and selfless service.
Reflection Pool: To reflect on the lighted "24 & 7" Flag of the United
States, and the service columns and values standing firmly behind and
providing protection for that Flag.
The Arkansas Flagstone and River Birch represents: The natural beauty of
our state, the country, and the American Way of Life that our Military
Services protect.

Mr. Jim Alberson of Maumelle just sent me the following:
At last night Maumelle council meeting 5 members of
the council voted to allow fishing at the Maumelle Veterans Memorial.
The Maumelle Veterans Memorial was built to honor our nations veterans
not to used as a fishing dock. If you feel as me do (the Maumelle
Veterans Memorial Committee) please voice your concerns to your council
representative or you can email the mayor at mayor@maumelle.org.
Watch channel 11 news tonight. A story on the Memorial.
Thanks, Jim Alberson
