This tablet is placed by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Arkansas in memory of Hernando De Soto the first explorer to cross the Mississippi River and land upon the shore of Arkansas 1541.

This memorial is to forever honor members of the armed forces who participated in the defense of Pearl Harbor and other military installations on the island of Oahu, Territory of Hawaii against the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941.
