1980 Iranian Crisis Rescue Attempt

This memorial is dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives in an attempt to release the hostages from Iran in 1980. A memorial was uncovered recently; it had overgrown with vines and such.  The operation was called "Operation Eagle Claw".  As a side note, Cpl George N. Holmes is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas, beside his father, George N. Holmes, Sr. (died in 1992).
