Sharp County, Arkansas

Has two county seats, Hardy in the northern district, Evening Shade in the southern district.  The Frisco railroad hugs the banks of Spring River from one end of the county to the other, one of the most beautiful streams of the world which runs through the entire county.

The lands of Sharp County are unusually productive, especially along Spring and Strawberry rivers.

One of the best fruit sections in the state especially adapted is the land in the southern district.  Rich in manganese and rich in zinc, but these industries are practically undeveloped.  Cave City has one of the largest caves in the world owned by Judge Horn.

Also good schools, and a fine turnpike is being built from Evening Shade to Batesville.  This work is being done by E.A. Luck and Company of Evening Shade.

Poughkeepsie has one of the best High Schools in northern Arkansas, just twenty miles from Batesville.

Sidney has a fine High School.

Ashflat is a prosperous town and community and has the Sharp County Fair.

Evening Shade has one of the best known Springs in the state, fine court house, and high school, newspaper, and a prosperous community.

Hardy is becoming a noted health resort and over three thousand visitors were entertained here during the summer just passed by Dr. G.G. Buford, of Memphis, Tennessee, who has one of the leading health resorts on the mountain top over Spring River.  This resort is known as Wahpeton.  Hardy is also well represented in a commerced way, and is enjoying a general boom.
