Hendrix College did not start out as Hendrix College in Conway. It has had a couple of name changes and merges with other institutions , some of which are: Central Institute, Central Collegiate Institute, Hendrix Academy, Hendrix – Henderson College, and Galloway Women’s College in Searcy, In 1890 it was moved from Altus to Conway, Arkansas.
