I ran across a relatively new blog on KAAY Radio (founded as KTHS in 1924) with little tidbits of Arkansas history.
“Preserving the sounds and memories of the “Mighty Ten Ninety,” KAAY Radio, Little Rock, in the spirit of A.J. Lindsey (a.k.a. Doc Holiday II), 1941-2009:
I found the Arkansas Encyclopedia entry very interesting and really enjoyed reading up on KAAY/KTHS (Kum to Hot Springs). KAAy was so powerful it was able to broadcast to the Gulf of Mexico, the Bahamas, Central and South America, and Canada and the government used it to broadcast messages to Cuba during the Cuba Missile Crisis in 1982.

Come on over and visit! Please leave comments and let’s have fun remembering one of the mightiest radio stations in recent history!
