Last week I had the fortune to meet Misty Willbanks, “Social Media Manager” for Petit Jean Meats at the Arkansas Women Bloggers meetup and she told me that the company goes back over 80 years to 1926. She was kind enough to send us some pictures from the “old days.”
Founded by Felix Schlosser, a native of Germany, and who emigrated to the United States in 1922. He initially settled in Little Rock and worked for the Little Rock Packing Company and later for the Becker Packing Company. Fate would have him move to Morrilton where he partnered with Ellis Bentley and opened a small meat market named Morrilton Meat Market and Sausage Factory. They later renamed it Morrilton Packing Company.

Can you identify anyone?

Felix Schlosser is on the front row in the tie. You can read more on the history of Morrilton Meat Packing here: http://www.petitjeanmeats.com/Aboutus.asp
Let me tell you my personal experience while I am at it…I love me some Petit Jean Black Peppered Ham. Every year my boss sends out 30 or so of these hams all over the country. Petit Jean will bend over backwards to help you. We bought Honey Baked Hams one year and everyone complained to high heaven so we went back to Petit Jean. Love them!
Hey, I know its late Saturday night, but I hope you and Janie can make it to the Christmas Concert at the Arsenal tomorrow. It starts at 2 and totally free! If you can’t make it, I want to wish both of you the Merriest Christmas!
