I had hoped to post a few
pages with lots of nice Christmas lights in central Arkansas, but no
such luck. The
State Capitol was the best thing going and my pics of Sherwood's
Mystical
Forest, turned out
terrible. Maybe I will practice the night shots more.
One more thing, my
message board is being blasted with messages, which I delete every
day, but they are getting
slicker on posting. Now they are posting with a name in the
subject line
make it look like
genealogy. I am open to suggestions. The
only thing I know to do is
keep trying to weed them

that Russ Johnson

With the help of Mark
Dodson, I was able to photograph the memorials over at the
Little Rock Air Force base. There is one marker that I
really wanted that was
still under construction
and it looks like it is a conglomerate of lots of old markers
they gathered up, so
maybe Mark will be able to shoot it for me when they finish. I
got a
few of the markers on
that, so will add to if and when I can.

Jan Butler: It was first painted on the bluff by Earl Herbert "Tex"
Kiazer
(deceased) in the early fifties. He was a star football player for
the Atkins
Red
Devils. I'm sure he had help from his buddies, because it would be
impossible
for anyone
working alone to hang over the side of the mountain and paint at the
same
time. He
was a "wild and crazy fellow" long before wild and crazy were
popular!
He did
breathe life into a sleepy little town though.
Just to put it in
perspective for you..... this is how far I zoomed in.....that trucker is on
I40
and I am Highway
64. While I was shooting it, I thought it would have
been
pretty cool if Linda Hatcher was sitting up
there on the top waving! ;)

The message board on this site is not functioning properly and this is
something I am working on.
You can post to the website but your message
will not show up in the table of contents, however,
anyone searching for
keywords listed in your message, will be able to bring it up doing a search
using the search engine. I hope to have this fixed soon, but since I have
moved to new servers,
this may be a major problem, and I may need to put up a
new message board. Rest assured, none
of the messages will be lost.

My Aunt Madge passed away this week and my friend, Dave Brannon's Mother,
Marie Garrett,
passed away this week. Please keep us in your prayers as we
try to get back on track.
MARIE GARRETT,
90, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at home. She was an amazing woman. Her optimism and resilience were a constant testament
to her faith.
Her abundance of love and compassion were blessings she shared with everyone she
knew.
She was a multiple medalist in the Senior Olympics, an award winning cook, an
accomplished seamstress and an avid gardener. She was active with the Senior
Citizens of Jacksonville for many years and enjoyed playing games, socializing
and listening to gospel music. A love of travel took her to every region of the
country. When she talked about her adventures, her description always started
with, "I saw so many pretty things," and always ended with where she was going
next. This time, she's going home to stay. Marie Margaret was born
February 13, 1916, to the late Josie LaForce and George Graham. She was a
lifelong resident of Pulaski County.
Her grace and kindness often overshadowed the
quiet, unending strength that she relied on countless times throughout her life.
Marie was preceded in death by all of her siblings : sisters, Ina Brannon, Oleda Smith and Birdie Pearson; brothers, Paul Graham, Raymond Graham and Clarence
Graham. Through the course of her life, her faith and family sustained her as
she was widowed four times. Clayton Dover, Elmer Brannon, Marvin Johnson and
Elgin Garrett, all passed before her. Surely, first in line to greet her in
heaven will be her son, Jearl Dover, who she missed dearly in her last years,
her infant daughter, Elsie Dover, and great-grandson Douglass Roddy.Marie, known to many as Nanny or Granny "Rie," is survived by a multitude of family and friends who celebrate her shining example of ninety years well lived and mourn the loss of her vibrant presence in their lives; daughters, Lois
Douglass (Jerry), Farmington, New Mexico, Lorene Jones (I.F.), Little Rock,
Arkansas, and Martha Hardin (Keith), Cabot, Arkansas; sons George Dover,
Pocahontas,
Arkansas, Doyle Dover, North Little Rock, Arkansas, and David
Brannon (Anita), Lonoke, Arkansas; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild ; special friends Peggie Sears and Frieda Ward.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at
Moore's Cabot Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Thursday,
April 27, 2006, 1 p.m., at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Cabot, Arkansas. Rev. Cliff Hutchins will officiate, with special words from Rev. Ben
Leonard and Rev. John Sammons. Pallbearers will grandsons, Jearl Dover, Jr.,
Keith Dover, Bill Dover, Randy Douglass, Danny Dover, Paul Mordecai, Todd Yates
and Jeremy Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Rita Atkins,
Janet Roddy, Denise McMahan, Deanna Sandoval, Elise Bills, Kimberly
Mordecai, Brandy Brannon, Kari Stevens and Amber Johnson.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Home Care because of the
outstanding care provided by Tracy Bridges, CNA, and Mary Brown, RN. (1501 N.
University Ave., Suite 500, LR, 72207; 501-296-9043 ). Funeral arrangements are under direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home,
(501) 982-2136.
Madge Lou Frances Crain of Sheridan died
at her home Tuesday, April 25, 2006.
She was born the daughter of Bailey Martin
and Canzadia Mae Coulter on October 18, 1925. She was a 1944 graduate of North
Little Rock High School and later attended the University of Arkansas at Little
Rock.
After raising her family, she reentered the work force and over the years
was employed by the V A Hospital, Arnold’s Beauty Supplies, Miller’s Flowers and
Doctor Jimmy Chang. She was an avid gardener and loved to brag on and spoil her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors are her husband of 62 years, Archie A. Crain; son, Michael A. Crain of
Yellville and his wife, Donna; daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Haynes of Sheridan and her
husband, Rodger; daughter, Mrs. Lisa Chang of North Little Rock and her husband,
Jimmy; sister, Berthel Miller of Cabot and her
husband, Charles; eight
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Arkansas State Veterans
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at
North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Online obituary and guest

Wow, I can't believe it is decoration time already! Seems likes spring
was just not too long
ago, not that I am complaining, I am ready for it.
Linda Hatcher, bless her heart, sent me a
couple of decoration days to announce.
Please keep in mind that most cemeteries in Arkansas
need money and hands for
upkeep. If you can't contribute one, maybe you can contribute the
other.
If you need help on where to send money, let me know, and I will try to send you
in the right
direction. If you have one you want listed or pictures of a
decoration day in the state of Arkansas,
just drop me the info and I will get it
posted.

Some of you know that I have been taking care of my Uncle for the past 5
years. He passed
away Saturday at the VA hospital, so I will not be
processing any orders until this weekend.

Bailey Martin Coulter, Jr.
10/22/1936 - 2/25/2006
Bailey Martin
Coulter, Jr., age 69, of Mabelvale, went to be with his Lord Saturday, February 25,
2006. He was born October 22, 1936 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, a son of the
late Bailey and Canzadia Box Coulter. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
He is survived
by three sons, Bailey Martin Coulter III, Michael Coulter and Joey Coulter; two
daughters, Laura Goodwin and Shelly Coulter; two sisters, Madge Crain and Berthel
Miller and niece Priscilla Weathers.
A memorial
graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at the Arkansas State
Veterans’ Cemetery in North Little Rock with Reverend Jake Osburn officiating.
