Added some more pictures of the
U.S.S. Razorback Submarine in North Little Rock.
Added a few of the historical structures
located up at
Fort Logan Roots. Stayed
tuned for more on this. I was unable to photograph all of it
because a VA policeman decided that it is against the law to
photograph anything on the VA grounds....never mind that these
particular buildings are located in all of the tourist guides for
North Little Rock.

As written on the
sundial...... ;)

Last night I had the fortune to attend the
Mount Holly "Tales of the Crypt" event. Twenty people were
"brought to life" by the wonderful students over at Parkview High
School. A little late for this year but we shall
make note early for next year...the event is free and while it was
centered in a cemetery is was not a "ghoulish" affair and provided
great entertainment for all ages.
Timberfest in Sheridan was this past
weekend. It was hot, hot, hot! I admit, I am not
very good at taking notes...if you know any of the names for these
people, drop me a line and I will add it to the photograph.

Frances Bennett, a writer for the Bernice
Banner recently published a book from one of her serialized columns
titled "The Journey". The Journey is set in 1899, and is historical
fiction. It tells the story of her maternal grandparents wagon train
journey from North Carolina to homestead and raise a family in Union
County, AR. You can find more information at

Added the
Iwo Jima - Marine Corps sculpture
and the
Awakening sculpture in Washington,
D.C. I know I am behind on adding my
Niagara Falls pictures but I am finally starting to catch
up. My tips for Arkansans going to Niagara Falls:
- Stay on the Canadian side. You
can't visually see the Falls from any of the American hotels.
The Canadians have taken advantage of the falls and lined them
up in front of the falls for a perfect view.
- You don't need your passport, but you
do need your birth certificate and drivers license. Also,
call your insurance agent and tell them you are going to Canada
so they can send you the proper paperwork for your vehicle
- There are lots of toll bridges between
here and there, take at least 20 bucks for toll.
- Be prepared to walk....lots of walking
even if you catch the trolley cars.
- A hamburger at McDonalds can run you 8
bucks. We ate a normal meal that would have been $40 bucks
at Applebee's in Little Rock for $120 bucks at the falls.
Buffalo, New York is 5 minutes away and a lot cheaper if you
want to save money.
- Buy waterproof cameras. You
might be able to take pics with your good camera but the
likelihood of getting water soaked is very real.
- Wear clothes that you don't mind
walking around in wet.
- Chances are...anyone you speak to up
there will be a foreigner and they no speak English, especially
southern English but if you hand them the camera they will take
a picture for you. ;)
That pretty much concludes my tips.
If you get the chance to go, go. Pictures are nice but you
can't imagine the raw power going over the falls until you feel it.
You may not have heard of it, but if you
are traveling to Niagara Falls,
Lebanon, Ohio is a seemingly good,
safe, little town to stop in along the way. There was
nothing major but the town has worked hard to restore its old
buildings and we enjoyed stopping there to rest.

Added the
Spirit of the Buffalo in Oklahoma City.
Down town reporter David Simmons shared the Spirit of Little Rock
Pig. I think it should look more like a Razorback and I
think this University of Arkansas logo licensing and everyone using
a pig now instead of a Razorback is a bunch of bull. Its a wonder
someone hasn't tried to license the American Flag. ;)

This weekend Mark and I traveled over to the
Oklahoma City Memorial & Museum dedicated to the 168 people killed
April 19, 1995. I have been to a lot of museums but have never
been moved like I was in this Museum. The virtual tour I have
placed on my website will show the outside of the memorial but if
you ever get the chance, be sure and tour the museum.

To celebrate the "7th"
Anniversary of this website, which I started in September
2000.....everything on this website will be FREE...all of the
Arkansas Gazette articles and over 300,000 cemetery pictures.
There is a limit of 5 articles or cemetery pictures per week, per
email address, for personal use, at this time. Just disregard
the order buttons ( I will get them removed as I can) and send me an
email with the names you are interested in AND where you found them
on my website. If you can help pass the word around the
genealogy community, I would appreciate the help as I don't really
have time to monitor the boards anymore.
To all of my supporters, I
want to thank you...without you, I wouldn't have made it this far.
I am looking forward to another great year and I hope to add lots of
great stuff. - Pris
