June 6, 2008

Added a few things for Sebastian County, Arkansas.

The Natural Bridge in Clinton, Van Buren County.  If you are NOT in good health, this is the one to go see.  Its just a short walking distance to see and yell for help.  It's not quite as big as the one at Alum Cove but it is much more striking when you first see it.

June 5, 2008

Take a few moment's and check out the Arkansas' Fallen Hero Memorial by Rob Hopper.  I am amazed at the number of soldier's who died in  ***2007***.

Added a link for Marion Sue (Thompson) Bradford,  local artist who was well-known for her steam-boat paintings, which included the Sultana Tragedy.

June 4, 2008

Ok the following is a sympathy plea....

The Arkansas Gazette has a photograph contest going on and I am trying to get votes for Peachy Lou's pic. Hopefully it will be put in the book under the Pets category.  Its an Arkansas picture contest so I have to warn you...flipping through the pictures and voting for them is VERY addicting.

On to regular business...let's start the day with one more from Saline County - the Rucker House.

June 3, 2008

NOTICE - May 30, 2008

Arkansas Ties is moving to a new server and platform and as such we are having difficulties.  My email is totally down and many pages are not working & this has been going on for several days.  At this point, it will be the middle of next week before we are up and running right. If you have emailed me in the past week and I didn't respond, that means I didn't get it.  Please email me at ArkansasTies@gmail.com. - Pris

May 27, 2008

Added Mark's pictures of Haws Creek Falls in Johnson County.

May 26, 2008

This is a vent....I drove to the National Cemetery early this morning for the service...find out we are not having it at the Little Rock National...we are now having it at the new State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.  ***Rolling my eyes***  A list of my grievances....
  1. A. Memorial Day service was started to commemorate Civil War soldiers.  There are no Civil War Soldiers at the State Veteran's Cemetery.
  2. B. Over 75 percent of the people attending will be 50 and up...there is no shade.  They are supposed to go where for relief?
  3. C.  What is with North Little Rock and the parking situation.  They have no parking at the cemetery so you have to park at Camp Joe T. Robinson and be shuttled in by bus.
  4. D. The grass wasn't even cut and neither cemetery looked "decked  out" for the day.

Ok...that pretty much covers everything.  I have been running the road all weekend so check back this week for lots of pictures.  I have covered the ground from Fort Smith to Harrison if that tells you everything.  Hope everyone had a good SAFE Holiday.

Mark & I ran into the Brian, Nathan, & Michael down at the Big Dam Bridge.    Pretty good haul of catfish.

The river is still pretty rough.

May 21, 2008

I finally made it down to Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia to photograph the only "GAR". Grand Army of the Republic memorial for the Civil War in Arkansas.  There were a few Union soldier graves around it so I photographed those too.
