Mark took us up to Van Buren this weekend to ride the Arkansas &
Missouri Railroad. The Arkansas Photographer's Club was there
too but I don't think the train ride worked out too good for the
photographers. The colors weren't quite ready to photograph yet
& the train never stopped long enough for us to get off and take any
pictures..
It's mainly a ride and enjoy type thing, which we did!.

This month marks the 8th Anniversary of Arkansas Ties, so I am
celebrating with a totally new look. Hang in there with me as I dust
out the cobwebs and line everything out but please feel free to drop
me a line if you need anything or have something to add. -

Over the years,
Reubel Funeral Home,
founded in 1901, has handled thousands of funerals. I found
this photograph of the building interesting because I could picture
people going in and out during a funeral.

Early this year in April, Ms. Judy emailed me and asked me to
photograph Columbus, Arkansas for her. Mark and I stopped
there on our way to Cossatot Falls and photographed the little town
and the Columbus Presbyterian Church that was about a half mile down
the road. During a storm in June, a tree fell on the church
and took it to the ground. At the end of May, the owners of
the buildings in Columbus decided to raze them for safety reasons.
Mr. James McJunkin, who owned 3 of the stores, sent me a short
history on each building. Thank you!!!
Church,
Columbus One,
Two,
Three,
Four. Now if anyone has any
pictures of the buildings and wants to share, I will be glad to post
them.

Columbus before it was razed.
Mr. Rendon sent me another photograph on
Lt.
Alfred E. Muldoon and some information on Lt.
James L.
Smart. Thanks You! Added a
1927
photograph & article of the Elk Horn Tavern in Pea Ridge by Elise
Lathrop.
October 5, 2008
Added an old photograph of the
1880 Little Rock High School
and a little information about the old
Confederate Home in Pulaski County.
October 3, 2008
Russell Rendon sent me the story & a photograph on a couple of
Arkansas Fallen Soldiers - 2nd Lt. Alfred E.
Muldoon and Cpl. Hubert Downs. Thanks
Russell!

Lately I have been interested in things that were made in Arkansas.

Just an update...my high speed internet has got me into trouble
(sigh) and I have picked up a trojan. Until my computer is
clean and disinfected I will NOT be sending any email out. I
certainly don't want to pass this crud on to anyone else.
September 26, 2008
I have compiled a list of my
Arkansas log house photographs.
Drop me a line at
ArkansasTies@ArkansasTies.com if you know of any I am
missing.
September 22, 2008
As you can see, I am feeling the need to change my website up.
This usually motivates me to get back in gear on adding stuff, so
bear with me.
September 21, 2008
Added the following:
September 20, 2008Shirley Manning has been working on her
Norman, Montgomery County website...if you have time check it out
at:

Todd Ellett is looking for more information on
the following piece:

First & foremost is a Happy Birthday to my
Sweetie Mark!!!!

I added this picture to my home page...my
two sisters, Ginger & Tina and I guess that's my mom in the
background. Based on their size, some time in the 50's.

Since gas is so high (and who knows how
much higher it is going to get) I am just going to work on some of
my stuff I have at home. This is a 1936 stamp commemorating
the Arkansas Centennial (1836-1936). It features the Arkansas
Post, the Old State House and the current State Capitol.
September 10, 2008
I have had the internet since some time back
in 1993 but have been in a technology DEAD zone...no cable, no DSL,
no nothing....Yes I know, and I only live 8 miles outside of Little
Rock. Eight years ago, I started and have maintained this
website on a dial-up account. Let me tell you... sending
photographs with a dial-up account has truly been an act of God at
times. Santa Claus (aka Steve with Aristotle) came to visit me
today and I now have High Speed Internet...let me tell you it is
worth EVERY penny I am paying for it....wooowhooo!!! Be still my
heart, I am so excited!!!!!! I don't even know where to start
on all the things I want to do : )
Added the
Civil War Little Rock Campaign - River Crossing marker.
September 8, 2008
On another note, I know that I am terribly
behind but hope to kick it in high gear more in the next week.

September 4, 2008
Ok, I have somewhat of a dilemma and am hoping
that maybe someone can give me the facts. A little over a year
ago, I photographed what I "thought" was "Faucette" park over near
the North Little Rock Riverfront near the gazebo. The
Faucette Park Bandstand was located there.

A couple of weeks ago, I photographed the
W.C. Faucette
Memorial Park at the top of J.F.K.

Are they both considered Faucette Park?

Battlefield in Pulaski County was this past weekend. I have
posted the photographs on the Civilwarbuff.org website. You
