John Sise
visited the US Military Cemetery in Ham, Luxembourg and
has sent us a photograph of Sgt. William P. Noa Jr.'s grave in
Luxenbourg. I kind of feel like a little bit of Mr. Noa
has been brought home. Thank you John!

John T. Gerlosky has sent me
some information on the Fort Chaffee photographs. Thanks John!
It appears the
Arkansas Duggar family has drew more national attention when
they recently moved into
Cornish house, which is a landmark for the Planned Parenthood
group. I like the Duggar family and wish we worried
more about what the unfit parents in America are doing versus a
family who has made "family" their thing, albeit (I
have been transcribing too long when I start using old words in
every day language), most of us
wouldn't dream of taking on five kids much less nineteen.
Can you honestly say you weren't jealous of Walton Family when
you were a child. Good night John Boy. Good night
Mary Ellen. : )

I also want to point out that I have transcribed
a lot of way out there articles, but this one took the cake.
This man is swearing to no end and the Arkansas Gazette actually
published it.
This is the
dirtiest story I have found in the Arkansas Gazette...please
don't click on it if you are easily offended. If you
have one with more cuss words in it, let me know.

Corinne Fletcher
with the Powhatan Historic State Park sent us a link to
"Sixty Years a Brickmaker, a Practial Treatise on Brickmaking
and Burning" by J.W. Crary. Mr. Crary states in the
book that he made the bricks for the Little Rock Arsenal
building (now MacArthur Military Museum) when it was built.
Love the Powhatan People! Thanks Corinne and Steve
Saunders.

I was dismayed
to read that the Mary Woods #2 boat at Jacksonport has sank and
two men charged in the incident.
Amanda Galiano posted a story here and
Jonesboro KAIT has their story here. Good grief, these
are men are not teenagers, I think they should make them do
thousands of hours of community work for our State Parks.
I would be interested in knowing the how and why they did
something this stupid.

The Flags
|
You
Can Help Us Preserve History! |
|
The
Old State House Museum recently added two flags
to its Arkansas Civil War Flag Collection.
The
flags are currently mounted on linen and encased
in dark netting to keep the aged, fragile fabric
intact. These antiquated methods of conservation
prevent the ventilation of the fabric and expose
the flags to further deterioration.
Both
flags must be cleaned and preserved using modern
conservation techniques.
Our
goal is to conserve these two flags in time for
exhibition in 2012, during Arkansas’s
commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of
America’s Civil War.
The
Old State House Museum appreciates your
support for this project. |

Also, wanted to let you know about a little
Arkansas girl that is doing well for herself. Jenee
Fleenor, from Springdale, has joined Martina McBride's band.
Jenee is third from the end and, I am proud to say, she took a
risk with her new boss and called the Hogs on her first concert
with the band, that just happened to be in her home state.
Love Martina and Trace wasn't too bad either. : )

Well, I wasn't
too impressed with Ancestry's iphone software. If you work
for Ancestry AND you just happen to read this...not everyone
wants to publish their family tree publicly. Maybe, just
maybe, we like the idea of toting it around on our phones to use
for research. ***Sigh***
And while I
am on my little podium here...this morning at 2:00 in the
morning this terrible storm rolls through Little Rock. I
work hard and play hard so when I go to sleep, I am dead, I mean
dead to the world. Itt has to be a pretty bad storm to wake me
up and God was definitely moving the furniture last night.
Well since I don't watch TV, I stumble to my computer to see
what is going on with the weather on the local TV stations.
I pull up Little Rock's KTHV
(Channel 11) and what does it say? You are not going
to believe this... it doesn't say Tornado Warning AND it doesn't
say Severe Thunderstorm Warning What does it say? It says
Hydrological Warning. "HYDROLOGICAL WARNING" scrolling
across their IMPORTANT weather banner. Now I don't know
about you, but the last thing I want to do when I am worried
about a tornado flying over my head is to wonder what "Hydrological"
means. Helloooo...we don't need all the candy-coating, a
nice and simple FLASH FLOOD WARNING will be fine. ***Double
Sigh***

"Pris, George’s mom is in an assisted
living place in Brownsville, TN. They are having an event in
January were they want people to send a postcard to the
residents from different places. It helps with the
after-holiday winter blues they say. Supposedly one old lady
last year got over 200 postcards.
I don’t know a lot of people, but I know you are on
different boards, blogs, etc. and might can get people to
send George’s mom a postcard from different city, states,
etc.
Here is her information:
Mary Johnston
Sugar Creek Retirement Center
1169 S Dupree Ave
Brownsville, TN 38012
She is 89 ½ and sure would love to see some postcards."
I got this letter from my little sister today and am hoping some
of you can help out. Our mother died back in 1984 so "Nannie"
(Candie's mother-in-law) has been like a mom to her.
Nannie has been in the hospital 3 times in the past month and a
half and could use a little perking up, like we all do from time
to time, so if you can drop her a hello card we sure would
appreciate it. - Thanks! - Pris
